Freshman Social, 2026

Freshers’ Day was celebrated at M.S. Girls’ College, Rangia, on 26 September 2026 with great enthusiasm and festive spirit. The programme was organised by the Students’ Union Body, 2026, which made extensive efforts to ensure the successful and memorable conduct of the event. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the college flag by the Honourable Principal, Dr. Sanjib Kumar Barman, in the presence of teachers, students and office staff. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Mrs. P. D. Baishya, Head of the Department of Economics. The Swahid Tarpan ceremony was subsequently performed by the Presidents of the Students’ Union Bodies for the sessions 2024–25 and 2025–26. Thereafter, the college wall magazine, Drishti, was inaugurated by Dr. Ramen. Ch. Nath, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The open session commenced at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Avijit Kumar Dutta, Head of the Department of English, Pragjyotish Mahavidyalaya, Guwahati, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Dilip Deka, President of the College Governing Body, along with other distinguished dignitaries, was also present. The formal proceedings began with the rendition of the Mahavidyalaya Sangeet by the students of the college. The session was conducted by Krishna Mani Das. Sangita Das, President of the Students’ Union Body, highlighted the objectives and significance of the programme. The Honourable Principal, Dr. Sanjib Kumar Barman, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by a formal welcome to the newly admitted students of the 2026 batch by a representative of the senior students. The Chief Guest and the President of the College Governing Body addressed the gathering and shared their valuable thoughts, guidance and words of encouragement with the students. The open session concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Miss Bishakha Mahanta, General Secretary of the Students’ Union Body. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Principal, distinguished guests, teachers, students, office staff and the audience for their valuable support and cooperation in making the programme a grand success. The cultural programme commenced at 2:00 p.m. Students from different semesters, including the newly admitted first-semester students, enthusiastically participated in the programme and showcased their talents through a variety of performances, including songs and dances. The performances created a vibrant and entertaining atmosphere throughout the event. The major attraction of the cultural programme was the performance by the popular singer Baban Barnil, who enthralled the audience with his performance of Geetor Xorai. Approximately 1,100 students attended and enjoyed the programme. The entire celebration concluded smoothly at 5:30 p.m. The Freshers’ Day celebration provided a warm and memorable welcome to the newly admitted students of the 2026 batch and fostered a sense of belonging, enthusiasm and camaraderie among the students of the college. Overall, the programme was successfully conducted with active participation and cooperation from the students, teachers, office staff and members of the Students’ Union Body, making it a memorable occasion for the college community.
