Observation of World Environment Day 2026

Manabendra Sarma Girls' College, Rangia, observed World Environment Day on 5 June 2026 with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental conservation. The programme was organized by the college in association with the Forest Department, Rangia, and supported by AASU, Rangia. The event witnessed the active participation of the Principal, faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, and representatives from the collaborating organizations. The programme aimed to create awareness about environmental protection, sustainable living, and the collective responsibility of safeguarding nature for future generations. The celebration commenced with a brief inaugural session in which the Principal highlighted the significance of World Environment Day and emphasized the urgent need for environmental stewardship in the face of growing ecological challenges. Representatives from the Forest Department and AASU also addressed the gathering and encouraged students to adopt environmentally responsible practices in their daily lives. A major highlight of the programme was a plantation drive conducted within the college campus. Saplings of various indigenous and environmentally beneficial plant species were planted by the Principal, faculty members, students, and invited guests. The plantation activity symbolized the institution's commitment to promoting a greener and healthier environment. To further encourage environmental consciousness, saplings were distributed among all the students, inspiring them to actively participate in afforestation efforts and contribute towards ecological sustainability beyond the college premises. The programme concluded with a collective pledge to protect and preserve the environment through responsible actions and community participation. The successful observance of World Environment Day 2026 reflected the college's dedication to environmental awareness and its continued efforts to foster a culture of sustainability among the younger generation. The event served as a meaningful platform for promoting environmental responsibility and reinforcing the message that every individual can play a vital role in building a greener and more sustainable future.
