The International Yoga Day was celebrated at Manabendra Sarma Girls’ College, Rangia on 21 June 2026 at 10:00 A.M. in the Conference Hall. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of yoga for physical, mental and emotional well-being and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the students. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjib Kumar Barman, Principal, Manabendra Sarma Girls’ College, Rangia, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The inauguration was attended by the Coordinator, faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students. Thereafter, Dr. Mina Kalita, Convenor, Yoga and Meditation Committee, highlighted the aims and objectives of the celebration and spoke about the significance of yoga in maintaining a healthy and balanced life. The Principal also delivered a speech on the importance of yoga and its relevance in promoting healthy ageing. Students of Manabendra Sarma Girls’ College along with students associated with the KKHSOU Centre of the College participated in the celebration. The resource person, Miss Garima Devi, delivered an informative and engaging lecture on yoga. She also demonstrated and explained different types of yogic practices and exercises and emphasised their benefits for maintaining physical fitness, mental peace and overall well-being. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Mina Kalita, Convenor, Yoga and Meditation Committee, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, resource person, faculty members, staff and students for their valuable support and active participation. The celebration concluded successfully with a renewed commitment to incorporating yoga into daily life for better health and well-being.
